JUNSEOK KANG

강준석의 회화에서 등장하는 소소한 주변 풍경, 상상을 일으키는 동물의 모습들은 삶에 대한 따듯하고 서정적인 감각을 일깨운다. 

그는 현대사회의 빠른 움직임에서 벗어나기 위해 2014년 제주도로 터전을 옮겼고, 자유롭게 숲과 바다를 유영하며 자신만의 리듬과 시선으로 삶을 새롭게 구성해 나간다. 

바쁜 일상 속에서 잊고 지냈던 설레임, 추억, 사랑, 순수의 감정은 캔버스 화면 위 가득 차 있으며 감동과 환상의 세계를 떠올리게 한다. 

삶에 대한 부드럽고 깊은 강준석의 시선이 반영된 듯 그의 작품에서는 소박하면서도 뚜렷한 선(line)과 부드러운 색채의 사용, 고유한 표면의 텍스쳐를 만드는 붓질의 조화가 표현의 특징이다. 

매일 주변을 관찰하고 겪은 풍경을 스케치하며, 작업실에 들어와 정리하는 그의 일상은 천진난만하게 낙서를 끄적였던 어린 시절과 닮아 있기도 하다. 

꾸준히 그려온 숲, 토끼, 강아지, 어린 아이와 함께 등장하는 자연의 모습은 작가에게 평온함과 긍정을 일깨우는 소재로, 

이를 자신만의 순수 회화가 지향해야 하는 이상향으로 삼았다. 

상상과 감정이 메마른 오늘날 강준석의 작품은 뛰어난 감수성으로 다시금 우리의 감성과 서정을 불러 일으킨다.
