ARTIST STATMENT
삶에서 가장 중요한 요소는 어떻게 살아가야 하는 가에 대한 고찰이지 않을까?
그 고찰은 내면의 탐구를 통해서 이루어지고 그 내면으로 들어가기 위해서는 자발적 침묵과 고독의 시간이 필요한데 대개의 사람들은 자신들의 고독을 외면하거나 인지하지 못하고 살아간다. 나의 작업은 그 각자의 고독을 건드리고자, 내면으로 떠나는 여정의 발판을 마련해 주고자 한다.
그림 속의 고독과 침묵을 통해서 자신 안에 숨어있는 쓸쓸함을 발견할 수 있도록, 그리고 그것을 마주함으로써 나와 나의 삶 속에서 벌어지는 현상들에 대해 한 번 더 고민할 수 있도록 하는 것이 이 모든 작업의 본질적 의미이다.
I believe that the most important aspect of life is the introspection that comes from exploring our inner selves. This contemplation requires internal exploration, and to delve into our inner selves, we need voluntary silence and solitude. However, most people either ignore or are unaware of their own loneliness and continue living their lives.
As an artist, I believe it is my role to create a framework for this inward journey and to help others access the solitude within themselves. Through the depiction of loneliness and silence in my artwork, I aim to assist people in discovering the loneliness hidden within themselves and to reconsider the phenomena occurring in their lives by confronting it. This is the essential meaning behind all of my work.
